Artists and Photograhers
I find much inspiration in the work of fellow-creators. A couple of months ago, I visited an phenomenal exhibition of Art by African American Artists in Houston, and saw a famous photograph by Gordon Parks. In my teen years, I was first introduced to Parks' work. If you're not familiar, he's one of the most well known and prolific African American photographers of the 20th century, and shot striking and memorable images of the Civil Rights Movement but also for Life Magazine, for fashion, and photo journalism. His photos, his fresh and influential take and really modern posing of his subjects are an inspiration to me as a designer, and I'd say that he was an artist who was ahead of his time. His models and subjects are always modern and powerful.
